Good news

The vet said it is due to belly cord not properly concealed during birth, that is why there is a lump consisting of fatty crystal deposits. Hmm first time heard of this. Do you think I need a second opinion?

Hi Lex - hey, good to hear the news. Your owner should get a second opinion if it makes him feel better, but he shouldn't worry unnecesarily as we gather that umbilical hernia's are quite common in the smaller breed of dogs. Great video of you enjoying your treat Lex - made our mouths water! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

Hey Lex - thought we'd just drop another quick line to answer your questions.

On walking outside - to get us used to it our female human used to carry us round the block for a few weeks to get us used to the sights, sounds and smells. We felt safe being carried and it built up our confidence so that when we went out for the first time on our lead we were quite used to being outside.

Also, we were let off our lead almost immediately! We're always kept on-lead when we're walking on roads, etc, but in parks or the seafront where it's safe we're always off-lead. (We prefer to meet other dogs like this - we don't like meeting dogs so much when we're restrained as it worries us because it doesn't feel natural.) Our human was advised by a very experienced dog trainer that it was best for us to be let off-lead when we were very young whilst our puppy instinct was really strong as we would naturally want to remain close to our humans during this time. Well, they were nervous the first time we were let off, but you know what - it sure worked! As a result we're really good at recall and we're told (*puffs up chests!*) that we're a pleasure to walk as a result! And because we're so good at recall we're not nervous when we're out we're pretty good at exploring new walk sites!

If you're a bit nervous on your walk give the carry thing a go for a while - it's also a good bonding exercise for you and your human!

Hope this is useful info! We're really impressed at your catching skills - we're pretty sure it's something we're never going to master!!
