Above are some products bought by my parents to prevent ticks and fleas. From left to right, flea powder, tick collar, garlic and onions supplements and Frontline combo spot. What caught me by surprise was the garlic supplements. Hmm doubt garlic smell can remove ticks lolz.

This was taken few hours after dinner, before Lex will go crazy chasing larger dogs till the main road. Now am glad he knows i don't like him doing that LOL. Daily walks can be very enjoying in 4 conditions:

1. Your leading you pet in walks
2. He can roam freely only when given the signal to do so
3. Control on markings (will show how to make them not to mark unless given permission)
4. Not chasing human or pets....

However I failed in getting Lex not to sniff around when he caught a scent...

This is the initial phase to make Lex guarding an object, will advance to guard at pinpointed objects without me moving any objects. On the other hand heel is working out quite good and finally found a way to control his markings LOL!

Few days ago Lex was left unleash to roam around the loading bay and a fella was stupid enough to provoke Lex. Lex of course gave him a good chase but what made me angry was the inability of Lex to respond over my command. I told mum what had happened and I got spanked for not leashing him.

I have been thinking it is time for some serious obedience training, after wouldn't want the same incident happening twice and I was lucky that Lex wasn't injured. Currently we are practicing to heel on leash and off leash without any distraction. Hard time job......

Above is a KK district dog license which I have applied for Lex. The annual renewal fee is only RM5. It is advisable to get one because if your dog is caught straying around the streets, it will not be shot rather be captured and returned to the owner.

DBKK took the initiative to set up mobile counter in each residential area during the weekends. We need not have to be in the city hall nor ask for signatures from neighbors to get a dog license unlike in KL or PJ. Just fill in the form and pay.

Finally out from Quarantine Centre

Finally made it home!

Have shipped Lex back to Sabah and it was a nasty process to go through, especially the quarantine part. Lex was quarantined for 35 days (RM12 per day) and the place was unpleasant. What can I expect from the government vet.... Lex was returned infested with ticks and dirt.....

A lot of people has been looking for an answer on how to fly with thier pets. Finally here are some guidelines, in case some of you are planning to get shifted to another region. First of all by all means do not look for a agent. An agent will overcharge you and telling you this and that which are not necessary.... It is cheaper if you D.I.Y it yourself.

1. Apply an import permit from destination you are going, it can be done by someone you know at the government vet. As for my case, my parents helped me. (2 working days and only pets above 3 months old can travel by air)

2. Bring your pet to the government veterinary department for microchip implant and 2 injections; rabies and and distemper. (all together RM170)

3. After you have the import permit, bring your pet to the government veterinary again for health check. Later on they will issue you a pet passport and an export permit. (could be done within 2 hours)

4. When you have acquired the export permit and pet passport, you can just check-in your pet as excess baggage. Meaning to say your pet will be travelling with you on the same flight. Excess baggage for Lex is about RM130++. *Please take note only MAS accept live animals on board and no other airlines in Malaysia. As for the carrier you need not worry too much, MAS staff don't give a damn...... Just get one which has enough space for the pet to move around.

5. Upon reaching there will be officers taking your pet for quarantine. During this period make sure you have all the documents with you. Standard quarantine period is 30 days but you can apply for 2 weeks home quarantine, however these useless baggers will take their sweet time to approve it.

Last but not the least, am also home for good and leaving me plenty of time to update this blog. LOL....

Early this evening while I had lunch with Timmothy, we passed by a crossroad and there were people burning joss stick and a small candle inside a paper shrine. In the Chinese culture, this is to guide the spirit of the dead to return home. Just now at 11:30pm, me and Lex went for a walk and passed that area(12:04am). Lex resist to go further so I turn my sight to him and ask "Why?" and when I turn my sight back to the roads I saw a white figure running across the street and dissapeared!!! WHAT THE!!!! This is a new pack of fish and sweet potatoes for Lex (Rm58) from Petsmore. Heard from a friend of mine if fed with potatoes coating can improve a lot.

This is another good product that I have bought. Bio-Groom texturizer (RM37.90). It gives a firm grip on the coating or in other words hair gel.

How stay command comes in handy

Are there times your tired of your dog following you everywhere around the house or need some privacy doing a few things like going to the toilet? This is where stay command comes in handy. First of all you need to teach your dog to sit. When he tries to get up, have him sitted again and repeat the word "stay" for a few times. Repeat this until he fully understands what you mean by stay. Good luck and have fun. The following video was taken last night when I need Lex to stay still while I grab myself a drink in the kitchen.

Here is a simple trick to learn. For those failling to do so, try calling your furkid's name with enthusiasm (not like mine as in the vid, that is a normal tune) and reward your furkid when they react to your call. I went petsmo?e to restock kibbles. The staffs have forgotten about my previous order and recommdended Evo Innova Chicken based kibbles 7kg (RM120). Before purchasing that particular item, I asked if the respective brand is suitable for my 4 months old Miniature Schnauzer, the arrogant supervisor said "Yes, I am feeding my dog with that brand as well". Without having a second thought, I bought it and have been feeding Lex with it over 3 weeks. I was astonished to see his coating fading badly from black to brownish black. Worst of all are the hot spots appearring on the body. I went for vet consultation and found out hot spots are caused by high contains of protien in kibbles. The amount of protein for miniature dogs should be around 20%, more than that are meant for large breeds. Sighs......I have learnt that people who works in petshop know nuts! Not reliable!

So later that evening I have changed Lex's kibbles to Natural Balance Lamb and Brown Rice Rm52.00 and Natural Pet Skin and Coat Supplement Rm57.00 (60 tablets). Natural Pet is a very good product, can see results in 6 days :)

It has been a month training Lex with this clicker. Can get it in http://www.petsplace.com.my/ under CAT training tools (RM25 without ribbon). When Lex acted correctly on my commands, I will just click on it and reward him with treats. Clicker makes training easier as puppies can't really understand human langguage. Clicker helps to translate that command into actions. Will post more on my clicker training methods. Catch up with me soon. :)

Whitening Spray

Just bought this whitening spray for RM37.90, non-bleach. Got to keep Lex's leggings and beard white before he stains badly. Was thinking to get a whitening shampoo, however have to use it with care, during shower be sure not to accidentally whitten any unwanted parts. On the other hand, spray is more convenient because spray on targeted area and need not need to rinse with water. Going to keep my blog readers about this product. Cheers and have a nice day ahead.

2nd Vaccination

Brought Lex for his second vaccination and deworming today in Taman Segar Vet. Lex was inspected by Dr. Tham. Good Vet and professional! He said Lex is healthy. Was shocked to see Lex didn't resist and cried during his vaccination. He was given a 9 in 1 jab for RM40!! So cheap!!

I have asked Dr. Tham if I should pluck fur from Lex's ears. He said nope not really as Lex's ears doesn't wax alot. If full plucked he said is not good as it will cause ear irritation! The above is a ear solution I bought from him. Got a tutorial from Dr. Tham too.
